SCRIPTURES: Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6-7 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
THOUGHT: When you accept the death of Jesus Christ on the cross as your substitute, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, you also receive an implanted confidence and assurance that drives out the fear of death, judgment and condemnation. Holy Spirit ministers to you that you are now a child of God and no longer under the curse of death and condemnation. However, there still is an enemy who constantly seeks to make you feel separated from God, and to seduce you to deny your relationship with God, rights and inheritance. Note that the term “Abba” used in the above verses, is a term of loving endearment from a child to his father. This term is used first in the Bible by Jesus (Mark 14:36) and then twice by Apostle Paul (Romans 8:15 & Galatians 4:6). Jesus and Paul are both showing you that God is your loving Heavenly Father and that He has sent you His Spirit to give you the assurance that He is there with you and for you. He says, He has plans for you: “…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (See Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). Therefore you can call God Father, “Abba” or even “Daddy”.
PRAYER: Abba, Heavenly Father, Daddy: I thank you for this revelation of my true relationship with You as a Spiritual Son, and how You really feel about my place in the family. Thank you for the witness of Holy Spirit to my heart that I truly am Your child. I renounce the lie of the enemy that I am not Your child and that something that I have done has disqualified me. I believe Your Word that I am Your child due to my acceptance of Your Son Jesus Christ as my Savior. I know now that as a loving Father You have plans for me. I submit to Your authority and direction, as my Abba, Father. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
