The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Seals You…

SCRIPTURES: Ephesians 1:11-14 “…In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” (See also, The Seal: Ephesians 4:30; 2 Cor 1:21-22; 2 Timothy 2:19; The Promise: Luke 11:13; John 14:16-17; John 16:13; Acts 1:4; Galatians 3:14).

THOUGHT: The verse above says that “…You were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance…” Knowing that you were sealed (Note: Were Sealed is Past Tense) is great, but what does it actually mean? Just as you seal an envelope to secure the contents and make sure they do not slip out, God seals you with His Holy Spirit to make sure you do not lose the promise that He has made. Holy Spirit is the earnest, which means down payment, on the future inheritance that God has set aside for you. You cannot be denied this inheritance because it is the entire basis of the Cross and the Blood of Jesus, Salvation, the New Testament, etc. It is a legal will that must be and will be enforced by the power of God’s Spiritual Law. God has given you this gift. He has great plans for you for all eternity and these plans will not be denied. As long as you accept God’s offer, you have it, even right now. Only you can deny yourself of the inheritance by walking away from it. I trust that as you see this plan and purpose of God that you will open your heart to Him in thankfulness, love and gratitude as you simply receive what He offers.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, by faith I receive the seal of the Holy Spirit of Promise. I also receive Your Promise and I thank You for all Your purposes and plans towards my life. I am grateful for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ and for the seal of Your Spirit, so that I may have an eternal inheritance, as well as the blessings of this life and the blessed assurance that Your Promises are sure. Thank You for the Seal of the Holy Spirit in my life today. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Unifies You with Christ & His Church…

SCRIPTURES: 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (See also Ephesians 4:1-6). Also note that just before His arrest, Jesus prayed that His followers would be united as one. (See John 17:11 & 17:21-23)

THOUGHT: Western thought and behavior is dominated by individualism and the drive for unique, personal self-expression. However, deep inside of you is the God-imparted desire to be a part of something and especially Someone Greater than yourself – that is your Creator, God Himself. When you accept Jesus Christ as Savior, it is Holy Spirit who unites you with all others, whether past, present or future, who have made or will make that same choice. Isolation and separation from the body of believers is the work of Satan. God’s Holy Spirit joins you in unity with God as a redeemed child, and plants you with a local body of believers for fellowship, accountability and spiritual safety. When you surrender to the order of Holy Spirit in the unity of the body of Christ it brings you Love, Joy, Peace and so much more. (See also Galatians 5:22-23

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Thank You for bringing to my attention the importance You have deemed for me to be in unity with You, Your Spirit and my fellow believers. I will remain where You plant me. I will not to resist the accountability required in standing shoulder to shoulder, looking eye to eye with my fellow brothers and sisters. I will not resist the bonding that develops as I grow in the Spirit, in Faith, in Fellowship and in Relationship with my brothers and sisters. Thank you for making Love, Joy and Peace possible in my life, in the unity of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Sanctifies or Cleanses You…

SCRIPTURES: Romans 15:16  That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 1 Peter 1:2 “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ…”: (See also 2 Thessalonians 2:13).

THOUGHT: In the Old Testament, the priests and the people  sanctified or prepared themselves for worshipping the one and only Holy God by various washing and cleansing practices. In the New Testament you are sanctified by Holy Spirit – see above verses, by the Blood of Jesus, Hebrews 13:12 & Hebrews 10:29, by the Word of God, Ephesians 5:26 & John 17:17, and by your purposeful putting off of unrighteous attitudes and actions, while putting on the ways of God. 2 Timothy 2:21, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Ephesians 4:22-32, Colossians 3:8-17.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, knowing that You are a Holy God, I cannot approach Your presence unless I am cleansed. Knowing that You have provided cleansing for me by the Blood of Jesus, by the Word of God, and by Holy Spirit, I clearly see my part in taking advantage of all that You have provided, putting off unrighteousness from my life and putting on Your righteous mind and ways. (See again Ephesians 4:22-32; Colossians 3:8-17).  I thank You for all the help You have provided and I commit my life to pleasing You. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Leads You To  God…

Scripture: Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

THOUGHT: The Spirit of God operates in a gentle leadership role in leading you into sonship with God. Being led by the Spirit of God is developing a heart and a mindset of Godliness and Christlikeness that is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Romans 8:1-6 discusses the role of the Spirit of God, if you submit yourself to Him. He will bring you victory and joy and peace in leading you into a mindset after the mind and heart of Father God. Once you surrender to God, apply the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and arise to the new life in the Spirit you are at peace with God and adopted as a true son or daughter of God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Lead me by Your Holy Spirit that I may truly know fellowship and relationship with You as my Loving Heavenly Father. Thank you Jesus for Your sacrifice, washing my sins away and making my life as a son of God possible. Thank You Holy Spirit for leading me to Father God and leading me into the paths of righteousness, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Gives You Spiritual Gifts…

SCRIPTURE:1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

THOUGHT: The Bible is referring to Gifts which are given to you by Holy Spirit when you receive His indwelling and then infilling as we have discussed in the past messages. One or more of the gifts of Holy Spirit are given to you for the encouragement, edification and building up of the Church, which is the people of God. So, in a sense the gifts are given to the Church. The nine gifts are classified as follows: a. Revelation Gifts: Word of Wisdom; Word of Knowledge; & Discerning of spirits. b. Power Gifts: Faith; Gifts of Healing and Working of Miracles. c. Vocal or Speaking Gifts: Speaking in Tongues; Interpretation of Tongues; and Prophecy. These Gifts in particular are given by Holy Spirit as He wills. So you may pray that He will reveal the gifts He has given to you so that you may effectively use them to benefit the body of Christ.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I surrender to You in prayer. I ask that the Gifts appointed to me by Holy Spirit be released in at the appropriate time, that I may be a benefit to the body of Christ. I have no desire for personal fame or glory, but simply wish to glorify You by walking in the purpose You have created for me. I submit patiently to wait for your perfect will to be worked out in me. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit In Your Life – He Produces Fruit In You…

SCRIPTURE: Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

THOUGHT: Earlier in the same chapter, Galatians 5:16 says that “…if you walk in the Spirit you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh“, or in other words, you will not do things that are unrighteous and displeasing to God. The fruit that He produces in you is the Godly character traits mentioned in the above verses. You can be confident that God is at work in you to bring about changes in your character to make you resemble Him more and more each day. All you must do is to cooperate and purposefully allow Holy Spirit to do this work in you. You must not resist as God brings to your attention the things He wishes cleanse out of you because He wants to produce the new fruit.

PRAYER: Thank You, Father for Your purpose to produce Godly Fruit in my life. I desire to be healed and delivered of those character traits that are not like You. Please cleanse me from within. I yield to the influence of Your Spirit to empower me to a righteous and productive life that will be pleasing to You, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit In Your Life – He Renews You Back In God…

SCRIPTURE: Titus 3:3-5 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

THOUGHT: Notice that verse three (3) is very honest quite graphic in saying, “…we ourselves also were… foolish, disobedient, deceived, etc… No matter where we live or how we were raised the seed of sin was transferred in the bloodline and birthed in us. We are all born in sin, prone to sin and tendencies to sin. Glory to God for the Salvation by the Blood of Jesus Christ and the “washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” No matter what you have done or where you have been there is forgiveness in Christ and a washing and renewing available for you, by the Holy Spirit of God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank You for the Blood of Jesus and the washing and renewing of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for forgiving my sins and washing them away with the Blood of Jesus and for renewing me by Holy Spirit. Thank You for the power of Holy Spirit renewing me to a life of faith, joy and obedience to You. I will remain aware of my days of rebellion and sin but because of the renewing of Holy Spirit my life of faith is now my incentive for living rather than my former life. I thank You for what You have done in renewing me back to You, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Gives You Power…

SCRIPTURES: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (See also Luke 24:49; ).

THOUGHT: Jesus’ promise of power in Acts 1:8 was fulfilled when the disciples received the power of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1-4. The rest of the New Testament shows what happened after they received that power (See examples in Romans 4:33 & 15:19). Some want the power without submitting their heart to God and desire it for personal fame or to merchandise it for money – see Acts 8:18-22. God wants your heart right with Him first and then you can properly receive and effectively use the power He gives to you. See also Luke 1:35 & 10:19. The Holy Spirit gives you power also to overcome sin, mistakes, inadequacies and to live a life that is powerful and pleasing to God. If you walk in the Spirit you will not fulfil the sins of your human nature – (see Galatians 5:16-18). Also, as in the books of Acts and Romans, we receive boldness and power to tell others about Jesus, fulfilling the command of Christ in Matthew 28:19 & Mark 16:15.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I need Your Holy Spirit’s power to overcome in every area in my life. Jesus Christ died for my Salvation. I accept His death in my place. In Jesus’ name, I surrender my heart and life to You and humbly ask to receive this power for daily victory over sin in my life. I also desire the power to tell others what You have done, and are doing for me, and what You desire to do in their lives as well. Grant me the victories in my personal life and boldness in my public life so that I may tell others the Gospel story. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

The Role of The Holy Spirit In Your Life – He Lives In You…

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 3:14-17 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

THOUGHT: God dwelling in you means at least three things:

  1. You have already confessed Jesus as Christ and Son of God, 1 John 4:15-16;
  2. You have learned to forgive and really love others, 1 John 4:12;
  3. You have made a determination to hold fast onto the things of the Word of God that you have learned, 2 Timothy 1:14.

The Results are at least these three things:

  1. We have absolute assurance that God lives inside of us by His Holy Spirit: John 14:17 “…But ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you”.
  2. By God’s Spirit we have the help that we need to walk in the ways of God: Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
  3. Holy Spirit living within us “quickens” our mortal bodies. (Romans 8:11). In one sense this refers to the raising up of our bodies from death at the second coming of Jesus Christ. In another sense this refers to the healing of our bodies by the power of God. Sickness is a kind of death to the vitality of our physical bodies. The power of life of the Spirit of God brings healing to our physical bodies and therefore “quickens” us to return to a life of wholeness. Living in vital connection with God and His Spirit awakens and charges our personal spirits so that we walk in physical, mental and spiritual healing.

PRAYER: Dear Father, I confess that Your Son, Jesus Christ is Lord of all and my Savior. It is my determination to live my life in love and forgiveness of others, no matter what they have done. I will also hold fast to Your Word as I thhmireceive it on a daily basis, by reading and studying. Please send people in my direction who love You and who truly know, live by and teach the truth as You have given it. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
