40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION | DAY 32 | 10/25/2020

INTERCEEDING FOR UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST AND IN OUR NATION:

SCRIPTURES: JOHN 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

JOHN 17:20-23 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

THOUGHT: Just before being betrayed and taken into custody Jesus prayed for the unity of His disciples and for unity among all in the future who would believe in Him for salvation.

Jesus continues even now to intercede for His Church. The enemy sows seeds of discord in every possible way, hoping that we might unknowingly join in with his plan to divide us. We must deny and uproot the ungodly strife from our own hearts and live soberly, righteousnessly, and peacefully with one another to fulfill Jesus’ purposes and plans.

PRAYER: LORD, I repent, asking Your forgiveness for any and every time that I, by my words or actions, intentionally caused discord or strife. Help me to be a reconciler rather than a divider in all my relationships. Help me to fulfill Jesus’ prayer by being a force for mercy, peace, love and reconciliation. In Jesus’ Name.

We also pray for our nation where harsh words, strife and violence are modeled from the leaders throughout every area of our societies. LORD, we intercede for a major change in the heart of this country. Bring peace, love and joy by Your Word and by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION | DAY 31 | 10/24/2020

INTERCEDE FOR THE SPIRIT OF CONVICTION AND REPENTANCE OVER OUR NATION:

2 Chronicles 7:13-14 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

THOUGHT: In 2 Chronicles 6:36-39, Solomon asked God to hear our prayers when we repent, turn away from sin and return to Him. God answered his prayer in the next chapter by saying that if we would humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways; then He will hear us and we will receive forgiveness and healing – (see 2 Chronicles 7:13-15).

Now is the time for us all to truly humble ourselves to God and one another, repent, renounce our sin, turn away from the wickedness and the mindset of the world and turn back towards our Creator, Saviour and Redeemer.

PRAYER: LORD, Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit in us. Help us to see the truth and turn away from sinfulness and towards righteousness. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION | DAY 30 | 10/23/2020

INTERCEDE FOR THOSE RECOVERING FROM ADDICTIONS OF ALL KINDS:

SCRIPTURES: 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Psalm 50:14-15 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

PRAYER: LORD, we pray for those who are addicted and suffering from the misuse of legal drugs or the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, other substances and behaviors. We recognize that there is a spiritual component to addiction and that there surely is a spiritual component to their release and recovery.

We pray that You bring laborers into their path to guide them to their relief and assistance and most of all to salvation in Jesus Christ.

LORD, help us all to realize that some suffer from addictive and destructive behavior patterns that are just as toxic and habit forming as a drug habit. We confess that not one of us is greater or better than another and we all need the power of deliverance that is only found in the Blood of Jesus Christ.

Thank You LORD for removing the cascade of opioid drugs from our the cities, towns and villages. We pray for help for those involved in the battle to keep our vulnerable children from involvement and addiction. We pray for continued recovery for our nation. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION | DAY 29 | 10/22/2020

INTERCESSION FOR THE COVENANT OF AMERICA – A CITY SET ON A HILL:

SCRIPTURES: Matthew 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Psalm 144:15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

THOUGHT: At its founding America was set to be “a city on a hill”, a beacon of hope to the rest of the world, according to Matthew 5:13-15, and according to the prayer made by the Puritan leaders bringing groups of settlers to these shores. They called upon God promising to serve Him so that His purposes could be served through America much like His original plan for Israel.
God has blessed this nation over these centuries since its founding and it has been a blessing to many other nations of the world. It truly has been a beacon of hope. However, in recent history, we have wandered away from our commitment to God and we have seen the results in the many disasters and crisis situations we have encountered. It is time for us to repent, renounce our sin and turn back to God.

PRAYER: LORD, America is a nation rooted in Christian covenant with You. We have violated the covenant, so we join with our brothers and sisters across America and around the world who repent for our sin and renounce the wave of liberalism and anti-God socialism that has taken root.

As Your Word says in Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” We see the reproach both nationally and internationally. We come to You LORD, to do a work in this country that only You can do.

LORD, We pray for the peace and reconciliation of the people of our nation. Let righteousness rule the nation.
We ask that You calm the tensions of our people. Give us leaders who will lead in righteousness, standing against corruption,  violence against innocent ones, and murder.
We plead for the raising up of righteous leaders who can bring the various sides together, give confidence to the people, root out the corruption and usher in an era of peace. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 28 | 10/21/2020

WE INTERCEDE FOR THE BREAKING OF GENERATIONAL & OCCULT CURSES OVER OUR FAMILIES AND OUR NATION:

SCRIPTURES: Proverbs 26:2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

Jonah 1:7 And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. So they cast lots, and the lot fell upon Jonah.

Nehemiah 9:2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

THOUGHTS: Sin has consequences and the consequences often effect the family. A family suffers when the father drinks or gambles away his earnings. God does not punish a child for the parents sins, but often the child suffers the consequences of their parent’s choice. Proverbs 26:2 tells us that the curse comes only when there is a cause. We can see in the Bible and in our families that sin has persisted down through the generations. It stops when we rise up to stop it by applying the provisions and the powers that are made available to us by the Risen Christ Jesus.

By repentance and renunciation of sin and by walking by the power of the Spirit we are empowered to break away from sin and lead our families into the new life of victory in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER: LORD, I see the constant decline of the human race into a general acceptance of sins that were once widely known as reprehensible. I renounce all practices deemed evil in Your eyes and by Your eternal Word. LORD, I seek peace with all men and women but, also hold onto the truth of Your eternal Word.

I join with others in repenting for our own evil deeds and renouncing all evil practices knowing that we break the power of generational iniquities when we stand forgiven and clean before You, speaking the truth in righteousness.

LORD, break the power of generational iniquities in our families, our siblings, our children, our parents and others. Build in us the crucified Christ that we may bring deliverance to those we meet. In Jesus’ Name.

LORD, we repent for and renounce the sins of this nation against its first inhabitants and against any nation or people around the world. We ask Your forgiveness also for its evils against people of color, the poor, the weak, the vulnerable, the unborn, the sick and those with physical or mental weaknesses. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 27 | 10/20/2020

WE INTERCEDE FOR SPIRITUALLY MATURE & SINCERE PASTORS AND  LEADERS.

SCRIPTURES: Jeremiah 50:6a “My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains…”

Ezekiel 34:2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

John 10:10-11 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

THOUGHTS: The Word of God warns of false prophets, false teachers, corrupt priests, and false apostles, etc. These insert themselves into position and become predators of those they should protect. This was a problem in the Old Testament, the New Testament, through the ages and also in our time.

In John 10:1-18, Jesus called these false workers, robbers, thieves and hirelings. He spoke of those who have no loyalty to Him, to His Word nor to the feeding and protection of the people of God.

PRAYER: Dear LORD, we repent for gathering to ourselves leaders after the vanities of our own hearts. We cry out for men and women who are leaders after Your own heart. Those who will cry out and spare not. Those who are not ashamed of Your Word.

We repent for our leadership choices of the past. We submit to Your authority and to the leaders You place in our lives. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 26 | 10/19/2020

INTERCESSION FOR RESTORATION OF GOD-ORDAINED MARITAL RELATIONSHIPS, FIDELITY AND HARMONY AND HEALING FOR TROUBLED MARRIAGES:

SCRIPTURES: Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

THOUGHT: It is clear in God’s Word that He values marriage. He is responsible for creating the first marriage partners, in a very unique and meaningful way (Genesis 2:21-23). He often refers to the sanctity of marriage and its picture of His relationship with us, His people (Ephesians 5:28-32).
As Eve came out of Adam, we too are made in God’s own image.

God calls marriage a one-flesh relationship (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Ephesians 5:31). This means that a marriage cannot be ended without a painful tearing away of one from the other. Separation is therefore extremely painful for all involved and must be avoided unless there is a threat such as violence or death.

PRAYER: LORD, we repent for entering too quickly into emotional, physical and marital relationships. We see that marriage is a holy joining of two people into a lasting bond of mutual love, selflessness, forgiveness and respect. We see that just as we have been too quick to marry we have been too quick to divorce. Help us as a nation to see the error of our way. We intercede for You to bring godliness, selflessness, love, restraint, healing, forgiveness, peace and joy back to marriages. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN!

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around and transform it to a work of Your glory. In Jesus’ Name.  AMEN!

ADDITIONAL SCRIPTURES:
Here are some additional Scriptures for counsel and guidance in this area:

Colossians 3:12-15 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Matthew 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 25 | 10/18/2020

REPENT FOR AND RENOUNCE ALL IMMORALITY, WICKED PRACTICES, AND WORKS OF THE FLESH:

SCRIPTURES: Galatians 5:19:21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:1-5 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

THOUGHT: All kinds of moral depravity have gained a foothold and enlarged its territory in in our nation, which was consecrated to God on more than one occasion. This is not the society our Creator designed but is the result of the fallen nature of man exalting itself against God.
Anger, hostility, violence, destructive attitudes and behaviors are the fruit of our culture turning away from God. If our nation and this culture continue on this path, not only do they fail to inherit the Kingdom of God (see above Scriptures), they also do not enjoy peace and joy right here on earth.

PRAYER: LORD, I repent for and renounce the years that I placed my hope in this worldly culture rather than walking by the instruction of Your Word. The wages of sin is death and the pleasures of this world are not worthy to be compared to the joys You have set before us.

Thank You for Your mercy, the forgiveness of sin, the power of a changed life and the ability to walk it out in love.

LORD, I join with many others in renouncing the immorality and wicked practices that have become normalized in our nation. In our nation they are now saying that what has always been wrong, is now alright and they now call what has always been good and  right, wrong.

LORD, we pray, interceding that You will expose the mass deception and confusion in our land and raise up truth and righteousness to govern this people and this nation.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around and transform it to a work of Your glory. In Jesus’ Name.  AMEN!

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 24 10/17/2020

REPENT FOR AND RENOUNCE ALL SEXUAL PERVERSION IN OURSELVES AND IN OUR LAND:

SCRIPTURES: Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Leviticus 18:22-23 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

THOUGHT: Sexual perversion includes any and all sexual activity outside of a God-ordained marriage union (Adultery, Fornication, Prostitution, Sex-trafficking, Same-sex, Rape, Incest, etc.).

The overwhelming testimony of the Word of God is that sexual perversion in any form is reprehensible to God.

Furthermore, it is clear historically that when such practices are broadly accepted and practiced in a city or nation there are consequences.

To illustrate: Someone may ‘feel like’ smoking cigarettes however governments and non-governmental organizations around the world are warning people of the current danger and future consequences of their actions. The Bible has given us severe warnings of the current and eternal consequences of sexual perversion. Just because we feel like doing something does not justify the practice. We are governed by and subject to the laws of our Creator.

PRAYER: LORD, we pray for victims of sexual perversion. They are the innocent, unsuspecting, trusting ones, who have been violated. LORD, as they seek You, heal their hearts and wounds as only You can. Renew to them what was taken by the predator. Give them Your peace, joy and love. In Jesus’ Name.

LORD we repent, asking your mercy, and forgiveness, for any and all participation we have had in sexual perversions of any kind. We renounce all such activity that we have participated in.

LORD, give us another measure of Your love and compassion to care about those so engaged, to warn them and to help them to recover, to repent and to renounce the past way of life. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name.  AMEN!

ADDITIONAL SCRIPTURES: 1 Corinthians 6:15-19 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR OUR NATION – DAY 23 10/16/2020

REPENTING FOR AND RENOUNCING SYSTEMIC INJUSTICE AND POLICIES THAT HAVE LED TO INSTITUTIONAL POVERTY, CRIME AND RACISM AND ANY PERSONAL PARTICIPATION I MAY HAVE HAD:

SCRIPTURES: Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

1 John 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

THOUGHTS: Some policies, whether unjust in themselves or unjustly applied, have led to a great distrust between people and leaders, between people and police and between the races.

There is a proliferation of social concerns and issues. The history of the status quo has brought us to systemic poverty and hopelessness in many cities, along with crime as a way of life, an increase in gun crime, substance abuse, murders, broken families, a hostile political climate, a hostile racial climate and much more.

Few of our political solutions have been broadly effective and our greatest need is to turn back to God and His Word to find the solutions He has already prescribed.

PRAYER: LORD, I repent for all participation I have had in marginalizing or demonizing those that are not like myself. I recognize that the root of this is greed, lust and hatred for one another. LORD, teach me to love as You love. According to Your Word the greatest of all commands for me to follow is to love You and to love others.

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION:

LORD, I interceed for our nation. I see the anger, the hurt, the pain, the division, the crime, the fear, the lives being senselessly lost and the hopelessness that has proliferated in our society.

As a nation, we have wandered far away from You. LORD, I join with many others in repenting for turning our backs on You and in renouncing the evils of our society and the evils of our policies that has developed into selfishness,  polarization and racism.

We pray for redemption, recovery and healing for marginalized communities and for love and reconciliation among our diverse people.

LORD, teach us to take time to listen, to love and to have compassion for one another. In Jesus’ Name.

Turn us around LORD, that we as a nation turn back to the source from which we came. Let it be a Sovereign work of Your own hand to turn this nation around. In Jesus’ Name.  AMEN!
