SCRIPTURES: Ephesians 1:11-14 “…In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” (See also, The Seal: Ephesians 4:30; 2 Cor 1:21-22; 2 Timothy 2:19; The Promise: Luke 11:13; John 14:16-17; John 16:13; Acts 1:4; Galatians 3:14).
THOUGHT: The verse above says that “…You were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance…” Knowing that you were sealed (Note: Were Sealed is Past Tense) is great, but what does it actually mean? Just as you seal an envelope to secure the contents and make sure they do not slip out, God seals you with His Holy Spirit to make sure you do not lose the promise that He has made. Holy Spirit is the earnest, which means down payment, on the future inheritance that God has set aside for you. You cannot be denied this inheritance because it is the entire basis of the Cross and the Blood of Jesus, Salvation, the New Testament, etc. It is a legal will that must be and will be enforced by the power of God’s Spiritual Law. God has given you this gift. He has great plans for you for all eternity and these plans will not be denied. As long as you accept God’s offer, you have it, even right now. Only you can deny yourself of the inheritance by walking away from it. I trust that as you see this plan and purpose of God that you will open your heart to Him in thankfulness, love and gratitude as you simply receive what He offers.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, by faith I receive the seal of the Holy Spirit of Promise. I also receive Your Promise and I thank You for all Your purposes and plans towards my life. I am grateful for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ and for the seal of Your Spirit, so that I may have an eternal inheritance, as well as the blessings of this life and the blessed assurance that Your Promises are sure. Thank You for the Seal of the Holy Spirit in my life today. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
