40 Days Of Prayer for Our Nation: Day Nine 10/02/2020

ALLOWING THE PERFECT LOVE OF GOD TO CAST OUT FEAR:

SCRIPTURES: 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

THOUGHT: We all know when we are afraid. Fear may be associated with undeserved treatment and also with just punishment for personal behavior or sin. Fear may be related to difficulties in our personal life here on earth and also to the anticipation of eternal judgment for sin and rebellion. The Good News is that the PERFECT LOVE of GOD through the Spirit of Jesus Christ delivers us from fear.

Perfect love for the LORD God causes us to honor, exalt, reverence and obey Him. Pursuing and perfecting love in our relationship with God causes us to have a healthy fear which is called The Reverential Fear of the LORD. The Bible tells us a lot about The Fear of the LORD:

“And unto man he said, Behold, The Fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” Job 28:28 “The Fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.” Proverbs 15:33 “By humility and The Fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” Proverbs 22:4

“The Fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” Proverbs 14:27 “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by The Fear of the LORD men depart from evil.” Proverbs 16:6 “The Fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.” Proverbs 19:23 “The Fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” Proverbs 8:13

As we pursue a love relation with God we find our reverence for Him growing and our love and compassion for others growing also. We do not fear because we have trust and confidence in our God who loves us and gave His Son to shed His blood for us. Perfect love casts out all fear.

PRAYER: LORD, there is so much fear, anxiety, anger, bitterness, confusion and strife on the earth and in our nation. Starting with me I ask that You help me to build perfect love and reverence for You so that I can be a vessel of love in my family, my community and in my nation. LORD, I turn back to You asking that You spread your perfect love among the Body of Christ, the community of your people, so that it may be set loose across this nation to bring peace and joy in our nation in turning back to You. Bring Peace, Transformation, and Reconciliation with each other and with You. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
