SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:17-18 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the IMMUTABILITY of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two IMMUTABLE things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I CHANGE NOT; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it ? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
THOUGHT: The word for “IMMUTABLE” is found only twice in the Bible in the same passage of New Testament Scripture in Hebrews 6:17-18. The meaning of the Greek word is “without change”. However, our understanding of the IMMUTABILITY OF GOD comes from numerous verses that unveil this attribute, as in God’s dealings with man, His descriptions of Himself and in the testimonies of those who serve Him. IMMUTABILITY is the unchanging nature of God. His character, purposes, plans as well as His will and promises are unchanging. Just as you may look at the on-line reviews of a product before you purchase it, the Bible also gives the review or the testimony that you absolutely can trust the Word of God and the Way of God because He is IMMUTABLE or UNCHANGING.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father and UNCHANGING GOD: It gives me great confidence to know that You are the IMMUTABLE or UNCHANGING GOD because it means that I can totally rely on the promises of the Bible and that I will not be led down one path to only find out that You have changed Your mind. With Your great wisdom and guidance I ask You to lead me in the decisions and responsibilities of my life, that I may please and glorify You, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
