SCRIPTURES: JEREMIAH 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I HAVE LOVED THEE [JEHOVAH AHAB] with an everlasting LOVE [AHABAH]: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee. ISAIAH 63:7-9 I will mention the loving-kindnesses of the LORD [JEHOVAH], and the praises of the LORD [JEHOVAH], according to all that the LORD [JEHOVAH] hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his LOVE [AHABAH] and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
THOUGHT: It is typical in the English language to consider love as to how it makes one feel. However, in Hebrew, love is more about how one determines to act. Love is about what one is willing to do or to give. In fact, the base of the Hebrew letters of the word we translate as love mean “I give” therefore the essence of love is giving. Love is a holy principle which is about how one has determined to conduct oneself. Not only is love giving, but unselfish giving between two people, such as husband and wife, becomes a connection in their relationship and binds them together. No relationship can blossom in a healthy way without mutual giving. The giving may be physical goods, financial, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, of your time, or some combination of these and more. “For God so LOVED the world, that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, JEHOVAH AHABAH, THE LORD WHO LOVES ME: I thank You for Your love in giving me life and in giving Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. It is knowing Your love that helps me to Love You and to love others. Help me to develop the same love that You have in giving of myself to the building up of others instead of myself. I pray that Your love pervades the world we live in today. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
