SCRIPTURE: PSALM 27:1 (A Psalm of David.) THE LORD IS MY LIGHT and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ISAIAH 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
THOUGHT: In the Psalm above the writer, David, leans heavily upon the LORD as his LIGHT [JEHOVAH ORI], SALVATION and the STRENGTH of his life. His strong conviction comes about due to his long term relationship and experiences with God. He uses the double reference to having no fear (whom shall I fear?; of whom shall I be afraid?) to emphasize his absolute confidence in God. Fear is a dark shadowy prison that surrounds you and imprisons you when you are under its control. Only by completely surrendering to the LORD AS YOUR LIGHT [JEHOVAH ORI] will you see the darkness of fear disintegrate and then you will be able to live peacefully and joyfully in the LIGHT of the countenance to the LORD.
PRAYER: DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER, My LORD AND MY LIGHT: In truth there are so many times in life that we as humans may have been attacked by one type of fear or another. There may have been fear of sickness, fear of death, fear of financial ruin, fear of rejection and abandonment, fear of being misunderstood, etc., etc. I have learned through relationship with You that fear is defeated because fear cannot stand in the presence of Your LIGHT. You, LORD, are my Everlasting LIGHT and the days of fear have ended. Thank You so much, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
