SCRIPTURES: Psalm 29:3 The voice of the LORD [JEHOVAH] is upon the waters: the God of Glory [EL HAKAVOD] thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. 2 Chronicles 5:14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the Glory of the LORD [EL HAKAVOD] had filled the house of God. Isaiah 35:2c “… they shall see the Glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God” [JEHOVAH EL HAKAVOD].
THOUGHT: The word HAKAVOD in Hebrew often represents a great weight, quantity or size. However, it also represents the impressive display and/or distinctive excellence and character of the subject which is being described. It is used to describe man’s accomplishments and kingdoms that excelled or dominated over others. However, when HAKAVOD is used of God’s Glory it refers to His superior excellence over anyone or anything that man has experienced. The Glory of God is also an expression of His Holiness. It is revealed in His attributes, character and nature as we are discussing from day to day, such as: His Self-Existence and Immortality; His Zeal and Love for You; His Omni-presence and Omniscience, His Holiness and Righteousness; His Power, Might and Strength; His Truthfulness and Faithfulness; etc. Any one of these descriptive characteristics of God is glorious in itself. As you continue to understand and consider the character of God, you become more and more aware of the vast extent of His Glory – even beyond your understanding.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, LORD GOD OF GLORY [JEHOVAH EL HAKAVOD]: You are glorious and the magnificence of who You are becomes more apparent to me as I learn more or You. Your Glory is made manifest in Your character. Let Your Glory reign in my life as I become more like You each day. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
