SCRIPTURES: Deuteronomy 10: 17 For the LORD [JEHOVAH] your God [EL] is God [EL] of gods, and Lord of lords, a GREAT GOD [EL HAGGADOL], a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: Nehemiah 8:6 And Ezra blessed THE LORD, THE GREAT GOD [JEHOVAH EL HAGGADOL]. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
THOUGHT: The word HAGGADOL is an adjective translated as ‘great’ and used to refer to the size or significance of something or someone. It is used of the size of natural things as well as of the spiritual significance of people or events (see Deut 10:21; Psalm 71:19; Psalm 106:21; Psalm 145:8; Isaiah 54:7; Jeremiah 32:19; Nahum 1:3). What is being communicated in the name for God is the understanding that The LORD, [JEHOVAH] is far greater in power and significance than any other ’god’ or system of religion and worship. Think of the GREAT Exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt, David’s many GREAT deliverances, Elijah’s GREAT miracles, the GREAT and unprecedented return of Israel to their own land, the GREAT salvation provided by the sacrifice of Jesus and the GREAT power of the infilling of the Holy Spirit in your life. JEHOVAH, YOUR LORD IS THE GREAT GOD, JEHOVAH EL HAGGADOL.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, JEHOVAH EL HAGGADOL – MY LORD, THE GREAT GOD: I trust in You forever, because You are GREAT and GREATLY to be praised. As my Creator and Redeemer You deserve to be esteemed, respected, honored and obeyed. I thank You for the times You have stepped in and saved me from consequences I could not avoid on my own. I give You the honor, respect and reverence because You are THE LORD, MY GREAT GOD, JEHOVAH EL HAGGADOL. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
