SCRIPTURES: Psalms 43:2 “For thou art the God of my strength [EL MAUZI – GOD OF MY STRENGTH].” 2 Samuel 22:33 God is my strength [EL MAUZI – GOD OF MY STRENGTH] and power: and he maketh my way perfect. Nehemiah 8:10 “…for the joy of the LORD is your strength [JEHOVAH MAUZI – LORD OF MY STRENGTH]”. Psalm 27:1 (A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD [JEHOVAH] is the strength [MAUZI] of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 28:8 The LORD [JEHOVAH] is their strength, and he is the saving strength [MAUZI] of his anointed.
THOUGHT: In a detailed study of the WORD of GOD we sometimes find nuances of thought being communicated that the English language does not readily show. Such is the case for the word ‘strength’. There are several Hebrew words that are translated into English as ‘strength’. You will see an example in Psalm 28:8 above: “Jehovah is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed”.
The first time ‘strength’ is used refers to the power, might and ability to get things done, while the second time, ‘strength’ refers to a fortified place, a refuge, a tower, or a fortress indicating the strength of being in a safe and secure place – the joy of the LORD is your ‘strength‘ [MAUZI] (see above Nehemiah 8:10). So Psalm 28:8 is saying that God has the strength, i.e. power, might and ability to get things done on your behalf and He is also a strong place for you to run for safety and shelter from storms and from the attack of enemies. If you need things done – Run to the LORD GOD! He is your STRENGTH [MAUZI]! Or, if you have storms brewing or enemies attacking – Run to the LORD GOD! He is your STRENGTH [MAUZI]! No matter what is going on in your life, the bottom line is – Run to the LORD GOD! He is your STRENGTH!
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, LORD GOD OF MY STRENGTH: In You I have righteousness and strength (Isaiah 45:24). You are my strength and my shield (Psalm 28:7). In times of trouble or trial I will place my trust in You and Your power to get things done and run to You for Your help, guidance and protection. Lead me by Your strength and by Your banner, In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!
