GOD’S NATURE: INCORPOREAL – GOD IS A SPIRIT

SCRIPTURE: John 4:24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 2 Corinthians 3:17Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

THOUGHT: Jesus says that God is a Spirit. This attribute of God is known as Incorporeality, or having no material or physical existence or parts. God speaks of Himself as having human body parts, such as hands, arms and feet as metaphors, for your benefit, to help you to connect and to understand His work. Describing Himself this way is called anthropomorphism, which means the use human characteristics to explain something or someone that is not human. Material substances have parts that are divisible and therefore potentially changing. However, the God of Creation is a Transcendent (meaning unique), Self-Existent, Immutable (meaning unchanging) and Indivisible Spirit (See Psalm 113:4-5; Psalm 90:2; Psalm 102:25-28, Colossians 1:15). You can have confidence in God because He does not change from day to day or diminish in His Power. His Promises are as good for you today as they have been when first given and have been throughout the ages.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father: Thank You for making Yourself known to me in ways that I can relate to and understand. Thank You for creating me in Your image and for calling me into Your family and connecting me to Your uniqueness, magnificence, greatness and power. I am humbled to know of Your Eternal, Indivisible and Unchanging nature. Knowing more of who You really are helps me to have faith and confidence in You. Lord, as I look to You day by day increase my faith so that I may be pleasing to You. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

About Pastor Lawrence A. Fox

We believe that along with many others, we are called by Jesus Christ to engage in a world-wide effort to reach those in and out of the Christian world with the message of full salvation and healing in His name. This effort starts in our own hearts through the power of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It then finds growth and nourishment in the fellowship of the local church and fans out through every believer’s home, in our neighborhoods, with our relatives, in the workplace and in every human interaction that we engage in on this side of eternity. We are excited to be ambassadors for God in bringing His message to a lost and dying world. II Corinthians 5:18-20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
