The Role of The Holy Spirit in Your Life – He Gives You Power…

SCRIPTURES: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (See also Luke 24:49; ).

THOUGHT: Jesus’ promise of power in Acts 1:8 was fulfilled when the disciples received the power of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1-4. The rest of the New Testament shows what happened after they received that power (See examples in Romans 4:33 & 15:19). Some want the power without submitting their heart to God and desire it for personal fame or to merchandise it for money – see Acts 8:18-22. God wants your heart right with Him first and then you can properly receive and effectively use the power He gives to you. See also Luke 1:35 & 10:19. The Holy Spirit gives you power also to overcome sin, mistakes, inadequacies and to live a life that is powerful and pleasing to God. If you walk in the Spirit you will not fulfil the sins of your human nature – (see Galatians 5:16-18). Also, as in the books of Acts and Romans, we receive boldness and power to tell others about Jesus, fulfilling the command of Christ in Matthew 28:19 & Mark 16:15.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I need Your Holy Spirit’s power to overcome in every area in my life. Jesus Christ died for my Salvation. I accept His death in my place. In Jesus’ name, I surrender my heart and life to You and humbly ask to receive this power for daily victory over sin in my life. I also desire the power to tell others what You have done, and are doing for me, and what You desire to do in their lives as well. Grant me the victories in my personal life and boldness in my public life so that I may tell others the Gospel story. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

About Pastor Lawrence A. Fox

We believe that along with many others, we are called by Jesus Christ to engage in a world-wide effort to reach those in and out of the Christian world with the message of full salvation and healing in His name. This effort starts in our own hearts through the power of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It then finds growth and nourishment in the fellowship of the local church and fans out through every believer’s home, in our neighborhoods, with our relatives, in the workplace and in every human interaction that we engage in on this side of eternity. We are excited to be ambassadors for God in bringing His message to a lost and dying world. II Corinthians 5:18-20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
