WORSHIPPING JESUS CHRIST: LORD OF THE SABBATH:
SCRIPTURE: MARK 2:27-28 And he said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.
THOUGHTS: Sabbath means rest as in ceasing from our labors. Man is not made for rest, but rest is made for man. The goal is to provide rest from our work and to open the door for extended time of reading, study, worship and fellowship. This command is the basis of the employer giving employees a day off.
Do you take advantage of the command to rest found in Exodus 20:8-11, by turning it into opportunities for extra sleep, peaceful relaxation and extended, uninterrupted time with God?
Is this an area that requires further commitment on your part?
PRAYER: LORD, You gave us rest. There remains a rest for the people of God (see Hebrews 4:9). I plan to take advantage of the rest You have given by setting aside time for bodily rest, for study, for prayer, reflection, meditation and worship. I ask for Your help in my endeavors to obey and be blessed by Your commandment. In Jesus name, AMEN!
