JEHOVAH-JIREH: THE LORD IS YOUR PROVIDER

SCRIPTURES: Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

THOUGHT: The first mention of the name Jehovah-Jireh is in Gen 22:14. In this passage Abraham passed the test of obedience in being willing to give up Isaac, the son that he had miraculously received. Now he needed a proper sacrifice and looked up to find a ram caught in a bush. Realizing that this was provided by God, he called the place Jehovah-Jireh which translates to “The Lord Will See To It“, or “The Lord Will Provide”. Abraham trusted God and obeyed God immediately and God provided. Likewise “…Green pastures…” and “…still waters…”, in Psalm 23:2, relate to the Shepherd providing what sheep need to thrive and have abundant life.

Are you completely obedient in the instruction God has already given you? If it seems that God is not hearing your prayers, then go back to your last place of complete obedience. Obedience is a test of faith. If you truly believe God, you will do what He says. There are higher realms of God’s provision when your obedience is complete. Those are realms where God “Sees It” and “Sees To It“, on your behalf, even without you laboring in prayer, but just because you are His obedient child. You must come to know the Lord as Your Provider.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father: Thank You for Your provision in the past. I realize that I have not been completely obedient to You and therefore I may not have received all that You intended. Today, I surrender to You, for You to work in me to develop complete obedience. Lord, “You See” what is going on in my life. You know the help that I need. I surrender to Your instruction, wisdom and guidance, that I may know Your will, so that, like Abraham, I can follow it immediately. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN!

About Pastor Lawrence A. Fox

We believe that along with many others, we are called by Jesus Christ to engage in a world-wide effort to reach those in and out of the Christian world with the message of full salvation and healing in His name. This effort starts in our own hearts through the power of the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It then finds growth and nourishment in the fellowship of the local church and fans out through every believer’s home, in our neighborhoods, with our relatives, in the workplace and in every human interaction that we engage in on this side of eternity. We are excited to be ambassadors for God in bringing His message to a lost and dying world. II Corinthians 5:18-20 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
