SCRIPTURES: Psalms 109:1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) Hold not thy peace, O GOD OF MY PRAISE [EL TEHILLAH]; Deuteronomy 10:21 He is thy PRAISE [TEHILLAH], and he is thy GOD [EL], that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.
THOUGHT: “Tehillah” is Hebrew for ‘praise’ or ‘a song of praise’. In Hebrew, the Psalms are called the Tehillim. Praise [TEHILLAH] comes from one who truly appreciates the character or the actions of another person. It is especially used by men praising God for things that He has done, as well as men acknowledging that the nature and character of God deserve to be praised (Psalm 34:1; Psalm 111:10; Exodus 15:11). If you have been following these daily devotions, you recognize that God is worthy of your praise for His majesty and power, as well as His mercy and compassion. Praise is a vocal expression such as: “I praise You” and “I will praise You”. However, synonyms for vocal praise may include: “I exalt You”; “I magnify You”; “I honor You”; and “You are worthy of my praise”; etc. In our human relations, people feel appreciated when we tell them. God is even more worthy of a vocal expression of our appreciation for who He is and for what He has done. Will you give Him the praise?
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, EL TEHILLAH – GOD OF MY PRAISE: I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. 7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. 8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. 10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN! (Reference: Psalm 145:1-10)
